The City of Syracuse is located about 50 km far from La Ville Hotel Catania. Syracuse is noted for its rich Greek history, culture, amphitheatres, architecture and association to Archimedes, playing an important role in ancient times as one of the top powers of the Mediterranean world; it is over 2,700 years old. Syracuse is located in the south-east corner of the island of Sicily, right by the Gulf of Syracuse next to the Ionian Sea. Today Siracusa is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Its oldest portion is actually an island called Ortegia, which harbors the famous Spring of Arethusa of Greek mythology, as well as the Temple of Apollo. "Syracuse" comes from the word Sirako, which in Greek means "swamp". Syracuse hosts some of the most important archeological sites in the world and one of the most important archeological museum in Europe. Every two years the Greek theatre of Syracuse welcomes the representations of classic plays and still offers the visitor particularly fascinating tourist routes because of its urban landscape’s exclusivity, the variety of its cultural heritage, witness of its many rulers (Greek-Hellenistic, early-Christian, Byzantine, Arabic, Svevian, Hispanic-Catalan, Baroque) all flourished within a unique Mediterranean environment.
