The Bonajuto Chapel
is the only building of the late middle age (the Byzantine
period) to have survived the devastating earthquakes of 1693. It
is an ancient chapel located 2 mt bolow the street level that
remained miraculously intact. It is a small small building
hidden by the walls of an eighteenth century aristocratic
palace. It has been property of the Bonajuto family for
centuries. This noble family had held it as shrine of family as
well as private chapel. It deals with one "trichora" Byzantine
that is a building with three apses; before its restauration it
had knowledge thanks to the sketches of Jean Houel.
It is constituted by numerous spaces of medieval ages and of the
400 and nowadays it' is used for exposures and conventions.
