Giovanni Verga’s Museum is situated in
via Sant’Anna, between via Vittorio Emanuele and via Garibaldi.
In this house-museum are preserved some
pieces of furniture, books and manuscripts of “ I Malavoglia”and
“Mastro don Gesualdo” by G. Verga who was born in Catania in
1840 on 2nd September.
The
house is made up by several rooms: the entrance with the
writer’s writing-desk; the large hall; the study-library that
preserved six libraries containing over 2000 volumes.
The
bedroom is divided into two rooms : in the second one there is a
wardrobe containing Verga’s clothes, while in a little
sitting-room, some pieces of furniture from his house in Milan,
are preserved; then there is a dining-room with precious
sideboards and a service-lift from the kitchen.
